Key Trends in eLearning

Digital technologies and the ubiquitous nature of the internet has enabled a transformation in how we teach. We have seen the introduction of Virtual Learning Environments (VLE), such as Webcourses, that allow lecturers provide online course materials, gather electronic assignments and perform assessments in new ways. Many students are bringing electronic devices, such as smartphones and tablets to class, which enables in class communication and interaction.

But what are the developments in technology and pedagogical practice that might be coming down the line?

Horizon Report 2017 - The Horizon Report has been produced by the New Media Consortium every year since 2008. Each year it aims to identify and and describe emerging technologies likely to have an impact on learning, teaching and creative in quiry in education. Six key trends, six significant challenges, and six important development in educaiton technology are placed directly in the context of their likely impact on the core missions of university and colleges.
