Exemptions

The School of Accounting and Finance has a long history with the accounting professions in Ireland with it's predecessor the College of Commerce Rathmines, which was founded in 1901, being the first academic institution to teach accounting in Ireland. 

We are proud of the exemptions that we hold with the major professional bodies in Ireland and worldwide and the opportunities this gives our graduates to enter the accounting profession.

Chartered Accountants Ireland

CA Proficiency (CAP) 1

Graduates of the BSc Accounting and Finance (DT366), and the BSc Business and Management (DT365) get full exemption from CA Proficiency 1 examinations of Chartered Accountants Ireland subject to performance in specific modules in their programmes. 

Graduates of the PgDip Accounting (DT310) also get a full exemption from CA Proficiency 1 examinations of Chartered Accountants Ireland subject to performance in specific modules in their programme.

CA Proficiency (CAP) 2

Graduates of the MSc Accounting (DT329) get a full exemption from CA Proficiency 2 examinations of Chartered Accountants Ireland subject to performance in specific modules in their programme. 

Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)

Undergraduate Programmes

Graduates of the BSc Accounting and Finance (DT366) get exemptions from modules F1 to F9 inclusive of the ACCA syllabus subject to performance in specific modules in their programme. 


Graduates of the BSc Business & Management (DT365) get exemptions from modules F1 to F7 inclusive plus F9 of the ACCA syllabus subject to performance in specific modules in their programme.

Postgraduate Programmes

Graduates of the PgDip Accounting (DT310) get exemptions from modules F1 to F6 inclusive plus F8 and F9 of the ACCA syllabus subject to performance in specific modules in their programme.

Graduates of the MSc Accounting (DT329) get exemptions from modules F1 to F9 inclusive of the ACCA syllabus subject to performance in specific modules in their programme.
