Students Learning with Communities

Would you like to collaborate with DIT students and staff on projects you want to get off the ground?

If so, the Programme for Students Learning With Communities is for you.

There is a range of successful and interesting collaborative projects already running between community groups in DIT. We would be happy to work with you if you'd like to suggest ideas for applied research or learning projects for your community to undertake with DIT students and staff. We also have a range of completed research projects on our website which may be of interest to you - to read more click here.

What we can do for you:

  • Meet you to discuss and brainstorm project ideas that students could work on to support your organisation's work.
  • Advertise your ideas/topics in emails to DIT lecturers and on our current research ideas from community partners page.
  • Work to find a DIT lecturer in your area(s) of interest, to partner with you on the project.
  • Introduce you to a lecturer who expresses an interest in your project idea(s), and facilitate a project set-up and planning meeting
  • Troubleshoot any challenges you might encounter when involved in a project with students.
  • Contact you about projects that lecturers have suggested that may be of interest to you.
  • Provide useful resources.
  • Promote your project(s) on our website and provide a link to your organisation.
  • Add you to our mailing list for appropriate networking, funding and promotional opportunities.

If you would like to contact us directly we will arrange a meeting. Provided we find a suitable lecturer in DIT for you to collaborate with, the next step will be for us to arrange for you to meet the lecturer, to develop your idea into a specific project which supports the students’ learning, and the goals of your community.
