DEPARTMENT OF ARCHITECTURE AND URBAN DESIGN
Welcome
The School of Architecture at Bolton Street was founded in 1939 as part of the city of Dublin's Vocational Educational Committee. During its early years it grew from a three year course in architecture to a five year diploma which was ultimately recognised by the professional body of the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland and under the European Directive. In 1992 the School of Architecture along with the entire college at Bolton Street became part of the Dublin Institute of Technology.
Graduates of the architecture programme up to and including 1998 were awarded a Diploma in Architecture from the Dublin Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Architectural Science from the University of Dublin, Trinity College. In 1998 the Dublin Institute of Technology was granted its own degree awarding powers and consequently all graduates who have entered the programme since that date will now be awarded a Bachelor of Architecture from D.I.T.
The department currently offers the following programmes:
Honours Degree in Architecture DT101
Professional Diploma in Architectural Practice DT119
