Second Life module wins award, April 2010

The elective module Virtual Environments: Is one life enough? won the national award for innovation in teaching and learning. The Jennifer Burke Award for 2010 was presented to John O'Connor, Senior Lecturer in Design and Head of School, at the EdTech 2010 Conference in Athlone Institute of Technology on 20 May.

The award was established by Dublin City University and the Irish Learning Technology Association (ILTA) to recognise and reward innovative practice in Irish teaching and learning. Designed and delivered by John O'Connor and Claudia Igbrude (eLearning Development Officer at the Learning, Teaching & Technology Centre) the module was piloted in 2009 and has been offered to third year students since then. The module had been among five projects that were shortlisted for the award in April.
