In the News: Ekaterina Kislova featured in the Irish Times with Appytoy
Ekaterina Kislova was studying for an MSc in Business & Entrepreneurship at DIT College of Business when an early version of what has since become Appytoy, was developed. Ekaterina took part in the AIB App Development and Innovation Programme aimed at business and marketing students at DIT and as part of the programme, students designed and developed an app, presenting their final product in a showcase. At the end of the programme Kislova won first prize in the competition. The positive feedback encouraged her to transform her idea from an academic project into a business and she turned to her friends Cathal Murphy and Evgeny Kazaev for help. Murphy is responsible for the visual and UX aspects of the app while Kazaev looked after the software development.
Appytoy is a marketplace where you can give away your child’s pre-loved toys and get the ones they really like in return. Their service helps you to clear space in your attics and pass on toys to other children and institutions, such as crèches and special needs schools, that are in great need for toys. You simply upload pictures of a toy to the platform, add an accurate description and wait for someone to request it. Use the filter to select your child’s age and interests to browse relevant toys in your area. Once you’ve started giving away toys you can get them from other users.
