Dr. Paul Donnelly Assumes Leadership Role within Academy of Management

Dr. Paul Donnelly, School of Marketing at DIT College of Business has assumed the role of Co-Chair of the Critical Management Studies (CMS) Division at the Academy of Management.
The Academy of Management is the oldest and largest scholarly management association in the world. Since its beginning in 1936, the Academy has evolved to an organization of over 20,000 active members from over 120 countries. The CMS Division serves as a forum within the Academy for the expression of views critical of established management practices, prevailing forms of organization, and the established social order, all with a view to contribute to the creation of better organizations, more humane societies, and a viable world system.
Since being elected in 2014 to the Division leadership track (2014-19) together with Prof. Banu Özkazanç-Pan, University of Massachusetts Boston, USA, Dr. Donnelly has served as;
- Co-Chair of the Division’s Professional Development Workshop Programme at the 2015 Academy of Management Conference in Vancouver, Canada;
- Co-Chair of the Doctoral Student and Early Career Consortia at the 2015 Academy of Management Conference in Vancouver, Canada;
- Co-Chair of the Division’s Scholarly Programme at the 2016 Academy of Management Conference in Anaheim, CA, USA;
- Division Co-Chair Elect with responsibility for, amongst other things, organizing the Division’s Distinguished Keynote Speaker, chairing the Division Business Meeting, and re-establishing the Division’s Getting Out of the Hotels initiative at the 2017 Academy of Management Conference in Atlanta, GA, USA, along with co-ordinating the Division’s input to amend the Academy’s policy on taking political stands so as to speak out when a public policy action threatens the existence, purpose, or functioning of the Academy.
As Co-Chair of the Division Executive (2017-18), along with guiding and facilitating the work of the Division and supporting his colleagues on the Division Executive, Dr. Donnelly is Co-Chairing the Division’s Academy mandated five-year review, along with Co-Chairing the implementation group for the roll-out of the Academy’s new communications platform, Connect@AOM.
