University of Parma, Italy join DIT College of Business at Retail Management Symposium

The School of Retail Services and Management hosted the 12th annual College of Business Retail Management Symposium with this year’s focus on 'E-Commerce in Retailing.
Dr. Edmund O’Callaghan stated “There is a growing need for retailers to respond to a changing retail landscape that reflect the rapidly changing economic and technological environment, influenced by digital and social media. In its 12th year running, this year’s symposium hosted to an eclectic mix of views, from Retailer CEO’s, Senior Managers & Innovation specialists.”

This year the Symposium saw a programme of speakers with a wide range of experts to include- Ms. Lorraine Higgins, Deputy CEO, Retail Excellence Ireland discuss 'The Environment for E-Commerce in Ireland', Mr. Stephen Howell, Academic Engagement Manager, Microsoft Ireland on the topic of 'Data Analytics for the Retail Sector including a demonstration of Power BI' and Professor Tarek Taha, Dean, Faculty of Business, Pharos University, Alexandria, Egypt share on 'Factors influencing consumer adoption of e-commerce retailing in developing countries: Egypt as an example'.

To conclude this year's Retail Management Symposium, students from DIT College of Business & University of Parma, Italy showcased their skills as they both presented on the Amazon.com case study.
