27 February 2018
DIT College of Busianess Dean & Director Dr Katrina Lawlor presented the Most Trusted Leader award to Chris Byrne of Workday at Ireland's Best workplaces 2018 award ceremony held at the Clayton Hotel Burlington Road on February 21st with special guest appearance from Taoiseach Leo Varadkar.
83 companies in total were honoured in three separate categories – best large workplaces, best medium workplaces and best small workplaces – and ranked in order on their relative lists based primarily on confidential input from the employees of the organisations involved. The Great Place to Work Institute assesses the policies and practices in place in organisations under nine key areas: Inspiring, Speaking, Listening, Caring, Developing, Thanking, Hiring, Celebrating, and Sharing. The second key component of the assessment is an anonymous Trust Index survey that gathers the perceptions of employees under five dimensions: Credibility, Respect, Fairness, Pride, and Camaraderie.
Most Trusted Leader award-winner Chris Byrne, SVP Global Operations & Support & Workday Ireland- Byrne’s leadership style is firmly rooted in collaboration. “We make better decisions together. Workday has a very collaborative style.” She speaks to her management team all the time and says she “wouldn’t dream of making a decision affecting the Irish operation” without discussing it with others first.
DIT president Prof Brian Norton talks to the Irish Times about the college’s sponsorship of the Most Trusted Leader Award, he says it is always a pleasure to recognise excellence across a range of skills and contributions. “In sponsoring the Most Trusted Leader Award, we believe it is essential to recognise those people who seek to achieve success for their organisations in the right manner while also providing encouragement, support and leadership for the employees in that company or organisation. Such leadership has a profound effect on all of our lives and hopefully will inspire future leaders by example.”
