DIT College of Business partner with BDO for first Case Study Competition Day
21 March 2018
DIT's School of Accounting & Finance held its inaugural case study day with BDO, one of Ireland's largest professional services firms.
Groups came together from a variety of programmes from DIT College of Business to include BSc. Accounting & Finance, BSc. Economics & Finance, BSc. Business Management along with students from the MSc. Accounting and MSc. Finance. The case study itself, which was developed by Lecturer Seán O'Reilly, was challenging but made it very competitive for all groups who were very creative in their presentations.
Students were given the case study first thing in the morning and had three hours to work in groups and give a presentation in front of the judging panel which consisted of Gavin Smyth (Audit Partner, BDO), Leona Giles (Audit Trainee, BDO and DIT Alumnus), Seán O'Reilly (Lecturer in DIT School of Accounting & Finance) and Evelyn Murphy (Assistant Head, DIT School of Accounting & Finance).
There was very little to separate the groups as the standard was extremely high but one groups which was made up of MSc. Finance and BSc. Accounting & Finance students really stood out with their creative and innovative presentation which was led magnificently by Conor Flanagan, their group consisted of James Igoe, Alannah Carragher, Kieron Domican and Sudhanshu Suryavanshi.
A big thanks to BDO Ireland for their support in providing great prizes for the winning team and giving all the students a fantastic opportunity.
