This May, Alex Gibson from the School of Marketing hosted a group from Immersive Liverpool, a meet-up group for individuals interested in immersive technologies including augmented reality, mixed reality, XR and virtual reality. The group are developing a range of Smart City initiatives and they met with Jamie Cudden, who is leading the Dublin City Council's Smart City programme and the rollout of the 'Smart Dublin' initiative.
A smart city is an urban area that uses different types of electronic data collection sensors to supply information which is used to manage assets and resources efficiently. Smart Dublin is an initiative of the four Dublin Local Authorities to engage with smart technology providers, researchers and citizens to solve challenges and improve city life, they aim to position Dublin as a world leader in the development of new urban solutions, using open data, and with the city region as a test bed.
As a result of this collaboration, DIT College of Business are delighted to annouce that a number of research projects are planned, initially focused on the Docklands regeneration projects of Dublin and Liverpool. We look forward to participating on these iniatives and if you would like to find out more you can contact Alex Gibson (Assistant Head of School, School of Marketing) 01 402 7898 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
