Masters in Fashion Buying & Management Students were treated to two cities- Amsterdam and Paris, in this years' International Study Trip
Participants embarking on their learning journey as a masters student in Fashion Buying and Management at TU Dublin were given the opportunity to benefit from real-world learning experiences during their study trip this February to Amsterdam and Paris and enjoyed a practical experience of the international fashion industry.
The trip began in Amsterdam, with a visit to the Fashion for Good Musuem, the world’s first interactive museum for sustainable fashion innovation. Students were immersed themselves in new technologies, took a closer look at buyer behaviour in terms of sustainable fashion and left with individual actions that could aid their decision-making in their future fashion buying roles.
Students were also lucky enough to see the temporary exhibit featuring the collections of the Redress Design Award 2018 – the world’s largest sustainable fashion design competition. The unique pieces of the finalists are created with zerowaste, upcycling and reconstruction techniques, and are designed by passionate, talented game-changers with the aim to transform the global fashion industry.
From Amsterdam, after a look into the diverse retail environment of the city- students boarded the train to Paris, to much excitement of the students who were eager to visit the Fashion Captial of the World. French designers have long created the most renowned and coveted fashion brands in the world, Chanel, Dior, Saint Laurent, Hermes, Louis Vuitton…the list is extensive and ever-expanding. Students immersed themselves in the thriving fashion hub of Paris, tasked with an assignment, the group spent a full day exploring from the finest Haute Couture shops in the Triangle d'Or to colossal department stores.
The final day of the study trip brought the group to Première Vision, this is a must-attend event for all fashion professionals who are looking to explore innovative designs and emerging trends in the fashion industry, it promotes a forward-looking and dynamic approach. The global event for fashion professionals certainly provided the students with first-hand experience of the demands of the apparel industry.
The Masters in Fashion Buying and Management is ideal for individuals who are interested in business and love fashion as it combines both; it will aim to develop your fashion awareness alongside your business knowledge and you will be encouraged to be innovative and engage with business issues. The next intake of students is January 2020 and applications open in April 2019.
