TU Dublin Logistics Student wins Silver Medal at IrelandSkills Live

Final year Logistics and Supply Chain Management student, Megan Yeates, won the Silver Medal at IrelandSkills Live which took place from 21-23 March 2019 at the RDS.
Ireland Skills Live 2019 hosted the National skills finals – a unique showcase of over 20 varied skills in a competitive setting, the winners in each event had the opportunity to represent Ireland at the World Skills Olympics in Russia. Ireland’s leading skills and trades people put their skills to the test in the hope of winning the prestigious National Champion title.
Megan was one of four TU Dublin Logistics students who took part in a marathon three-day competition, the competitors were given 8 tasks over the three days which had to be completed. Tasks included; creating contingency plans and presenting them to examiners, analysis financial accounts, case studies, completing bills of laden along with geography and location based questions. All areas of logistics knowledge were tested, along with testing students' skills in presentation, time management, communication and team work.
Megan commented on her win “I had a thoroughly positive experience throughout the competition. While tasks were set to test us, I felt it gave me a great opportunity to use my knowledge and skills acquired during my four years of studying in TU Dublin. I am thrilled to now have the opportunity to represent Ireland in the WorldSkills competition in Russia in August”
