Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting
The Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting (DT310) is a Level 9 one year full-time conversion programme designed for non-accounting students wishing to pursue a career as professional accountants.
Upon successful completion of this programme, and subject to performance in specific modules, graduates receive 9 CAP 1 exemptions from Chartered Accountants Ireland, and the maximum allowable exemptions from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) (Papers F1-F9 inclusive). Exemptions are also available from other professional accountancy bodies.
The majority of students on this programme go on to pursue careers as professional accountants (either practising or in industry/commerce) following appropriate training.
Others choose to undertake the MSc in Accounting which leads to CAP 2 exemptions from Chartered Accountants Ireland.
The minimum entry requirement for this programme is an honours bachelor degree (minimum of 2.2 or better) in a discipline, other than accounting. The Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting is well recognised as being a gateway to develop a strong career in accounting in Ireland and worldwide. Due to high demand for this programme early applications are advised.
What our Students say:
''This program is a conversion course for students with no accounting background so I was not worried that the materials would be too difficult. The main reason for joining the program is that I will get the full exemptions from CA Proficiency 1 (CAP1) examinations of Chartered Accountants Ireland, and exemptions from modules F1 to F9 of the ACCA, after completing the diploma. It could be a good start for my career.
The lecturers are professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. They are always happy to answer my questions during classes or even after classes. The learning materials are well explained and organised. Even though the learning schedule is packed to learn a huge amount of accounting concepts in 8 months, it is still worthwhile as I can go back to the workplace sooner. It is a good program for people who want to change their career to accountancy.''

''I have found the course really interesting and it has complemented my previous business knowledge which was what I was looking for as I wanted to merge the financial side business with business strategy.
The classes are fast paced, but if you are ever stuck or unsure the lecturers are always willing to go back over something or to meet with you.
Although I came from a Business background many of my friends in the course came from lots of different degrees but have found the transition easy and manageable! I would highly recommend this course, its a steep learning curve but it is one that you will reap the rewards from.''

''My first weeks in DIT were daunting to say the least, having never undertook an accounting module in any of my previous studies or at leaving certificate level, the clear scale of what I had undertook had begun to settle in. I decided it was best to voice these concerns with one of the lecturers and was immediately reassured that not only had I the capabilities to successful complete the course, but also that I would have the unwavering support from the lecturers to help me step by step along the way.
Coming from large lecture halls with often two hundred plus students in my undergraduate studies, to small class based learning, was something I noted as beneficial from the beginning.
The hands on teaching approach lecturers undertake in DIT is one which I believe lays the foundations for each student to achieve.
The teaching team as a whole are focused and motivated
My studies have not only been interesting and stimulating, but motivating.''
