Head of Counselling
Dr. Susan Lindsay, contact 4023443,4027020 susan.lindsay@dit.ie
Dr Susan Lindsay established and developed the DIT Counselling service.
She alternates her time between Rathmines and Aungier Street. She holds
a doctorate in psychology and is a registered member of the
Psychological Society of Ireland. Her particular expertise is in the
First Year Experience, Risk Management and Stress Management.
Service Secretary

Gabby has worked as a secretary in the counselling service. She has enjoyed immensely her contact with students. She is presently doing a degree in Greek and Roman Literature, so she can emphasise with both the difficulties and the rewards of student life.
North Side Counsellor
Catherine Bolger, contact 4024120, catherine.bolger@dit.ie
Permanent member of the team since Sept 1998.Catherine holds a B.A.(Hons) Psychology UCD, a MSc Counselling Psychology TCD, a Post Graduate Diploma in Criminology DIT, A Diploma in Critical Incident Debriefing. Also qualified in ASIST-Suicide First Aid and various clinical assessments such MMPI-2, Rorschach, NEO etc.
Catherine is a PSI Registered Psychologist and a Full Member of the Counselling Division of PSI. Catherine has been a Clinical Supervisor since 2002. Prior to joining DIT Catherine worked in another student counselling post and both primary and secondary schools as a counsellor. Her areas of special interest are Bullying, Relationship and Serious Mental Health Concerns.

Southside Counsellors
Catherine (Nita) Whelan, contact 402 3052, catherine.whelan@dit.ie
Permanent member of Team since January 2009, Nita holds a Certificate in Working with Victims of Child Sexual Abuse (RGN, RPN), a Higher Diploma in Risk Management (UCD), a BA Psychology (UCD), a Masters in Counselling Psychology.(TCD), and a Masters in Work and Org. Psychology (DCU). She is a registered member of PSI, IAUCC and An Board Altrainis.
Before joining DIT, Nita worked as a Drugs HIV and Gay Men's Health counsellor, EHB Drugs and HIV Helpline. Ten years experience as a psychiatric nurse and twelve years experience as a general nurse.
John Broderick, contact 4023155, john.broderick@dit.ie
Counsellor in DIT Aungier Street, with the DIT counselling service since 1996.
John holds a BA Psychology (UCD) and a Masters in Counselling Psychology (TCD). He is a registered member of PSI.
Before he took up his position at DIT, John worked as a student counsellor in Carlow IT.
