Module Description

The module explores how communities are formed and changed by the interaction of environmental, social and economic forces. It explores Irish planning legislation and its strengths and weaknesses in shaping communities.

Module Aims

The aim of this module is to allow student understand how Irish planning legislation can be used to develop more sustainable communities. This is discussed in the wider setting of an increasing focus on environmental issues, new developments in decision-making and participation, and a changing fiscal landscape subsequent to the Global Financial Crisis.
