Dr Ariane Perez-Gavilan - Inorganic Chemistry

Bio

Dr. Ariane Perez-Gavilan is Assistant Lecturer in Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Dr. Perez-Gavilan joined the school in 2015. She is responsible for undergraduate education across all of our programmes, and serves as year 2 tutor for the Bachelor of Science (Ord) Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences (DT261). In addition, she is a member of the Institute’s Student Disciplinary Board.

Dr. Perez-Gavilan obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. Her background is in inorganometallic chemistry, which leads to a wide range of interests including boron chemistry and inorganometallic materials. She came to DIT after lecturing in the Universtiy of Maastricht, where she learned Problem Based Learning techniques that she applies in her current classrooms. This feeds into her final area of interest, education research.

Dr. Perez-Gavilan is a member of the RSC.
