Dr Schazmann lectures and runs practical classes in Physical, Analytical, Organic and General Chemistry. Ben enjoys a broad range of Chemical disciplines delivered to all undergraduate years and postgraduate classes.
Ben’s current research interests include Chemical sensors, Polymer and Ionic Liquid materials science, Supramolecular Chemistry (including Calixarene synthesis and applications), Electrochemistry - Solid State Ion Selective Electrodes, Colorimetric dye synthesis and applications in Sensors. As part of his research, Ben supervises PhD, Masters and Erasmus students (Erasmus applications welcome!) as well as undergraduate project students.
As International Placement coordinator of the School (including Erasmus+), he pioneered DIT modules which currently witnesses approximately 30 undergraduate students per annum working globally in Laboratory placements (Industry and Academic research) - Search: DIT DT299T module catalogue.
This activity contributes in a concrete way to DIT’s mission of engaging with industry and top-level research institutions around the world.
