Dr Claire McDonnell is one of the Assistant Heads of the School of Chemical & Pharmaceutical Sciences at Dublin Institute of Technology. She was appointed Assistant Head in 2016 and works with the Head of School as part of the School management team to develop, agree, implement and manage School policy. Claire is also directly responsible for timetabling of teaching in the School, is programme chair for DT203, our BSc in Analytical Chemistry (Environmental, Forensic and Pharmaceutical) and year tutor for 4th year of DT299, our BSc in Chemical Sciences with Medicinal Chemistry.
She is a founding member of the Chemical Education Research Team in DIT, undertook a 3 year secondment with the DIT Learning Teaching and Technology Centre from 2013-6 and is currently Treasurer of the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Tertiary Education Group. She has prior experience in the fine chemical and pharmaceutical sectors and teaches Organic and Medicinal Chemistry.
