  • Worked for many years in the electronic manufacturing industry as Process Development Chemist responsible for the development of new products and processes.  Managed laboratory function, including supervision of chemical analysts, selection of instrumentation to meet the needs of both R&D, failure analysis and process control. Analytical techniques include SEM/EDX, dynamic viscometry, particle size distribution, thermal analysis, surface area, XRD, and trace metal analysis.
  • Plant Environmentalist: Harris Ireland (electronic component manufacturer)
    Managed environmental function throughout the facility included air, wastewater and groundwater monitoring.  Maintained ISO14001 and developed waste management strategy.  Involved in chemical risk assessment and safety, and environmental auditing.

Academic Interests:

  • Surface engineering and electrochemistry. 
  • Secretary of the Irish Branch of the Institute of Metal Finishing.
  • Involved in industrial training for technician level courses for surface engineering.
