Analytical Chemistry Lecturer DIT Kevin Street since Jan 2005.

2000-2005: Quality Manager at the Marine Institute, responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance a Laboratory based Quality System to Standard ISO 17025 in Chemistry, Microbiology, Bioassay, Phytoplankton and Virology disciplines.

1999-2000: Residues Scientific Co-ordinator / Chemist at the Marine Institute responsible for the establishment, implementation and operation of a routine monitoring programme for Veterinary Drug Residues in Farmed Finfish.

Academic Interests:

Current academic interests include Analytical Chemistry Environmental Chemistry and Quality Control mainly as follows:

  • The theory and Operation of all Modern Analytical Instrumentation especially Liquid Chromatography & Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry - Mass Spectrometry
  • Sampling and Sample Preparation
  • Method Validation, Quality Control & Analytical Laboratory Auditing
  • Accreditation to Internationally Recognised Standards and Accreditation Schemes, such as ISO 17025

Current research interests:

Research areas of interest include Food Safety and Environmental issues mainly relating to the Marine Resource. Of particular interest are Suitable & Validated Analytical Methods for the analysis of naturally occurring Toxins in Seafood such as Shellfish. In relation to the Marine Environment Research Areas of interest include Trace Metals, Polychlorinated Biphenyls and Organochlorine Pesticides in all Marine Environment matrices and indicators
