DT261: Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Science
Felicia C. Mutuma
In the first year of this course fundamental principles of Chemistry were covered which provided a good foundation for the whole course. The course material was well structured and allowed me to gain skills in problem solving, team work, communication and other skills essential for the work place. With the small class sizes and tutorial sessions I enjoyed the hands-on-learning, interaction in lectures, quick feedback on assignments and one-on-one help from lecturers in areas where I had difficulties. I will be going on to do the 1 year add on honors course (DT299) after I complete this course.
Graduate: Benjamin Ramberger
The course DT-261 "Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences" offered me a great opportunity to gain a professional knowledge about chemistry with an emphasis on the pharmaceutical industry. When I graduated from a technical school for chemical engineering in my home country, Austria, I took the chance to apply for an advanced entry into the third year of this course. I chose the course because it was a unique chance for me to gain an academic degree of a future oriented profession in an English speaking country. I enjoyed the year and I think I developed important skills and professional knowledge related to the pharmaceutical industry. As well have I deepened my general knowledge about chemistry with subjects such as physical and inorganic chemistry. With the degree I am planing to go on to a masters course in my home country. It was an invaluable experience for me to study here.
