Brendan Tierney Chairs OUG Ireland Conference


Brendan was joined by Oracle Academy sponsored students from DIT School of Computing
Brendan Tierney of the School of Computing recently chaired the Oracle User Group Ireland Conference. The OUG Ireland annual two day conference was held in the Gresham Hotel, Dublin, between 22-23 March. The conference has four tracks, covering Business Analytics, Big Data, Database Administration, Database Developer, Cloud Development and Cloud Apps. There were also various presentations about the newly release Oracle 18c Database.

This year School of Computing lecturer and Oracle ACE Director Brendan Tierney fulfilled the role conference chairperson. Brendan has been a very active member of the Oracle User Group community in Ireland, UK and supporting other user groups around the World. As well as chairing the event Brendan gave two presentation on In-Database Machine Learning and on the implications of Machine Learning with the EU GDPRs at this years conference.  Brendan was joined by 12 students from the School of Computing at the conference. These students are all sponsored by the Oracle Academy who supported them students throughout the event. This years OUG Ireland conference featured 16 Oracle ACEs from around the World presenting over the two days. These people are recognised as leading experts in their field.
