Departments

Keyboard Studies

The Department of Keyboard Studies provides tuition in piano, piano accompaniment, organ, harpsichord and classical accordion from elementary to professional level. All part-time students attend a weekly instrumental lesson and musicianship class while wholetime (undergraduate and postgraduate) students receive more intensive tuition as part of their degree programmes.

Orchestral Studies

The Department of Orchestral Studies covers not only all the instruments generally found in the modern day Symphony Orchestra, including strings, wind, brass and percussion, but also recorder, harp, guitar and jazz improvisation. We also have at our disposal a whole-time member of staff trained in the Alexander Technique.

Vocal Opera & Drama

The Department of Vocal, Opera and Drama Studies has earned an enviable reputation as an international centre of excellence for singers and actors.

Academic Studies

The Department of Academic Studies takes responsibility for all the academic content of the full time degree programmes and also provides a graded system of musicianship classes which supports the keyboard, orchestral and vocal departments individual tuition scheme for its many part time students.
