Concorde
Concorde was founded in Dublin in 1976 to promote the regular performance of new music and has remained under the artistic direction of Jane O'Leary since then.
Concorde continues to nurture the creation of new work, having commissioned and premiered nearly one hundred compositions:
- to forge international links with performers, composers and promoters, having toured in eleven countries
- to work with composition students in Ireland through programmes at DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama and NUI, Maynooth
- to reach audiences through live performances, broadcasts and recordings
Concorde have worked with international performers including Garth Knox, Harry Sparnaay, Elsbeth Moser, Maurizio Barbetti and Jane Manning.
In 2006 Concorde celebrated the Centenary of Samuel Beckett with five commmissioned works and a day of performances at the National Gallery of Ireland.
In 2007 Concorde commissioned four Irish composers jointly with Music for Galway - Grainne Mulvey, Deirdre McKay, Benjamin Dwyer and Benedict Schlepper - Connolly and the new works were presented at Norman Villa Gallery, Galway and the National Gallery of Ireland.
Concorde perform
at the Sincronic Festival in Lleida, Spain in October, 2007 and have
been invited to perform in Ljubljana, Slovenia in May, 2008. Concorde's
Irish performances continue at the Hugh Lane Gallery and the National
Gallery of Ireland.
