Encyclopaedia of Music in Ireland
Hosted by the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama, and scheduled for publication by UCD Press in 2012, the Encyclopaedia of Music in Ireland (EMIR) is the most comprehensive publication on music ever to have been undertaken in Ireland, and will include over 2000 articles embracing a wide range of thematic and subject topics and reflecting Ireland's musical culture in all its breadth and depth both in the past and today.
Under the General Editorship of Professor Barra Boydell (NUIM) and Professor Harry White (UCD) the Executive Editor of EMIR is Dr Mark Fitzgerald (DIT). Its Subject Editors are Prof. Barra Boydell, Dr Ann Buckley (TCD), Dr Gareth Cox (MIC), Prof. Gerard Gillen (NUIM), Dr Kerry Houston (DIT), Dr Maria McHale (DIT), Dr Mel Mercier (UCC), Dr Michael Murphy (MIC), Dr Méabh Ní Fhuartháin (NUIG), and Dr Adrian Scahill (NUIM)
The project has received support from Atlantic Philanthropies, the Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences, NUI Maynooth and the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama.
