DIT Chatham Saxophone Quartet wins Galway Music Residency Apprentice Ensemble 2011

DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama is delighted that the DIT Chatham Quartet have been chosen as the Galway Music Residency Apprentice Ensemble 2011.  The Quartet will work under the guidance of the ConTempo Quartet, Galway Ensemble-in-Residence over the next year.

Formed in the late summer of 2008, the Chatham Saxophone Quartet was named after the street on which it’s members first met at DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama, Chatham Row. The CSQ is dedicated to the performance of a wide range of music in many different styles that include the standards of the saxophone quartet repertoire as well as more modern contemporary works. Each of the quartet’s members are also active in composing and arranging new works for the group.  The Quartet members study at DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama, where they receive coaching from Kevin Hanafin (Saxophone Lecturer at DIT) and the members of the RTÉ Vanbrugh Quartet (Lecturers in Chamber Music at DIT).
