Ballymun Lullaby, National Concert Hall, 26th November 2012

‘Ballymun Lullaby' the CD behind the documentary music film also called ‘Ballymun Lullaby’ featuring children from the DIT Ballymun Music Programme is now Number 1 in the iTunes Chart! just in time for the children taking to the stage in the National Concert Hall this Monday 26th November.

200 children from the DIT Ballymun Music Programme join forces and voices with Music Generation Cork City and RTÉ Cór na nÓg to perform Ballymun Lullaby in the National Concert Hall on 26th November with DIT Symphony Orchestra and guests conducted by David Brophy (Principal Conductor, RTÉ Concert Orchestra) and MC: Evelyn Grant.  The photograph above is from the performance in Cork City Hall on 17th November 2012.

Together in a ground-breaking collaboration, they will perform the choral and orchestral music of Ballymun Lullaby, written by Daragh O’Toole (Composer and orchestral arranger, including U2’s 'The Sweetest Thing’) who has written a new movement for the ‘Lullaby’ which will be premiered at the Cork concert this weekend.  Another big highlight will be Ballymun singer Wayne Beatty’s  performance of the ‘Toys Waltz’, a single from the Ballymun Lullaby CD.

According to the organizers, this collaborative performance of Ballymun Lullaby will not only present a concert that is both accomplished and unique, but will also bring together young people from Cork and Dublin to celebrate a musical bond between the two cities and their budding music talent.
