New Head of Conservatory, Dr Gordon Munro

Dr Gordon Munro has recently taken up post as Head of the Conservatory of Music and Drama at DIT, having previously been Head of Undergraduate Programmes at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (formerly the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama) in Glasgow. 

Originally from the north of Scotland, Gordon is a graduate of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (BEd Music, piano), and the University of Glasgow (PhD in ‘Scottish Church Music and Musicians, 1500–1700’). 

Gordon has taught music at all levels, from beginner and junior to advanced.  He is an External Examiner at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, and has served as External Examiner at Aberdeen University and Trinity College, Dublin.  He has been member of several UK and international validation/accreditation panels, and has served as a member of the 12th Council of the General Teaching Council for Scotland. 

As General Editor and Trustee of Musica Scotica, Gordon promotes performances of and research into Scottish music.  He is also in demand as a choral conductor.
