photoInternational tenor soloist, Emmanuel Lawler joined the staff of the Vocal, Opera and Drama department in 2001.
An honours graduate of the NUI and Licenciate and Fellow of Trinity College London, he has performed extensively throughout Europe and America and in China etc, receiving standing ovations on some of the world’s greatest stages such as The Royal Albert Hall, The Chicago Symphony Hall, The Boston Symphony Hall, The Lincoln Centre and Carnegie Hall (where he will return next year) to name but a few.

He studied singing with renowned tenors Stuart Burrows in the UK and the great Carlo Bergonzi in Italy on whose recommendation Lawler was awarded the prestigious Diploma of Perfection by the Accademia Musicale Chigiana di Siena.
In addition to live performances, he has broadcast extensively and appears on CD with colleagues including The London Symphony Orchestra, The English Chamber Orchestra, The National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland and RTE Concert Orchestra in a wide repertoire from Baroque and Classical, through Romantic Opera to new compositions. In addition to eminent classical colleagues, he has also collaborated with non-classical legends such as U2, Mel Gibson and Ronnie Drew with whom he sang a duet on Ronnie’s final album.

His students have gone on to national and international success in competitions and on the professional stage and, in addition to performing and teaching, his services for masterclasses and adjudication are greatly in demand.
