Leslie CassidyLeslie Cassidy was born in Dublin and trained at the Royal Irish Academy of Music (where he was a scholarship recipient), The Leinster School of Music and the College of Music, studying both guitar and violin. Long established as one of the leading exponents of the classical guitar in Ireland, he is a Fellow of Trinity College of Music, London and holds an honours MA in Performance and Musicology from NUI, Maynooth. His postgraduate studies have included work with international guitarists; Gabrielle Esterellas (Spain), Timothy Kain (England) Elliott Fisk (USA) Paul Gregory (England) and John Feeley from Ireland. Widely experienced as a recitalist, he performs regularly in the National Concert Hall  and other major venues in Ireland. He has also given concerts in England, France, Spain and Austria. He has been a concerto soloist with the RTE Concert Orchestra.

He has recorded for RTE radio and television, (‘Rattlebag’, ‘Arts Show’, ‘Live at Three’, the ‘Andy O Mahoney Show, The Arts Channel, and Lyric FM (live broadcast of the concerto by Castelnuovo-Tedesco with Coleman Pearce and the NCO at the National Concert Hall 21/08/2001), BRT (Belgium Radio)
He also works regularly with some of the finest musicians in Ireland and has played for the Bolshoi Ballet and directed music for the Dublin Theatre Festival. He has taught at the Conservatory of Music and Drama since 1982. In October 2004, he gave the world premiere of Dr. Martin O Leary’s Sonata No. 2 at the National Concert Hall. He has released two CDs, the latter, which was launched at the NCH in 2008, included works written for him by Dr. Martin O'Leary from NUI, Maynooth.
