Join the DIT Irish Traditional Music Ensemble in Concert and enjoy some of Ireland’s finest young musical talent studying on undergraduate and postgraduate programme at DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama.  The ensemble, which combines both instrumental and vocal music, was originally modelled on the pioneering work of Seán O Riada and Ceoltóirí Cualainn.  Since its inauguration, the ensemble has forged its own unique sound and style drawing on the rich musical environment that surrounds it.  The ensemble is fortunate in that it features some of the finest young musical talent in Ireland today.  This talent is nurtured and developed in an innovative and challenging way, resulting in musical performances and recordings, which are at the forefront of the musical tradition today.  Recent highlights include performances on RTÉ Radio 1’s Céilí House, the Opening Concert of the prestigious TempleBar TradFest!, collaborative performances with the China Conservatory of Music, the Chinese Embassy of Ireland and the Korean Embassy of Ireland, a live radio and online broadcast for National Music Day with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, a televised O2 Arena performance with the Notre Dame Marching Band, and tours of Louvain (Belgium), Rome and Savannah, Georgia, USA.  Thegroup has also recorded two successful albums, Simple Philosophers and Flow my Tears, the latter in collaboration with the DIT Early Music Ensemble.
