The Vanbrugh Quartet present three concerts of stunningly beautiful chamber music in the rich atmosphere of Newman University Church on St. Stephen's Green. Each concert pairs a string quartet by W.A. Mozart with a chamber work by Johannes Brahms, for which the quartet will be joined by guest soloists Cian Ó Dúill, viola (Oct 11), Paul Roe, clarinet (Oct 18), Joachim Roewer, viola and William Butt, cello (Oct 25).

11 October

Mozart: Quartet K.421 in D minor

Brahms: Viola Quintet Op.111 in G major with Cian Ó Dúill (viola)

18 October

Mozart: Quartet K.387 in G major

Brahms: Clarinet Quintet Op.115 in B minor with Paul Roe (clarinet)     

25 October

Mozart: Quartet K.465 in C major    

Brahms: String Sextet Op.18 in B flat with Joachim Roewer (viola) and William Butt (cello) 

The Vanbrugh Quartet – Gregory Ellis, Keith Pascoe, Simon Aspell and Christopher Marwood – are dedicated to bringing string quartet music to audiences throughout Ireland, having given over one thousand concerts in venues ranging from small country schools to the major city venues. Winners of the 1988 London International String Quartet Competition, the quartet has enjoyed a busy international career which has taken them throughout Europe, the Americas and the Far East, winning critical acclaim. Strad Magazine described the Quartet’s 25th Anniversary Beethoven cycle as “awe-inspiring and infinitely moving” after they performed at London’s Cadogan Hall in November 2010.
