Welcome to the Dublin School of Creative Arts
Welcome to our school in the new Technological University Dublin, TU Dublin, Grangegorman Campus.
January 1st 2019 marked an historic day for our school when Ireland’s newest and largest university, TU Dublin was officially launched. On that day the Dublin School of Creative Arts became the first full University Art and Design school in the Republic of Ireland. Designation as a university marks the achievement of a long held strategic goal for our school. We believe that the role of the new university is to foster and shape a new critical understanding of the dynamic interaction between society and technology and we are determined that the creative arts will have a key strategic part to play in this process.
The emergence of the creative and cultural sector as a key agent of social and economic transformation in Ireland and Europe has long been documented. Our vision is to lead education, practice and research for Ireland’s creative and cultural industry sector in our new campus in Grangegorman, acting as a national and international benchmark for the creative arts. Our key values are excellence in scholarly activity through creative practice and research combined with a student centred learning environment encouraging creativity, flexibility and innovation. Engagement with the real world has always been central to our school over the years and we intend to build on our track record by delivering programmes with a strong industry, professional and community focus.
Work is well underway on our new campus buildings and we are right on target for the summer of 2020 when our 700 Creative Arts students will be joined by over 2000 music, media, film, drama and television students in a new purpose built 17,000m2 cultural hub with a 400 seat concert hall, blackbox theatre and a full suite of Art, Design, Photography, TV and Gaming Studios and Workshops.
We hope to keep you informed of all of our exciting developments in our programmes and facilities. We have introduced a new Dublin School of Creative Arts newsletter and would be pleased if you would add your name to our subscribers here.
