REGULATIONS

DIT has made a significant investment in the provision of ICT resources for students and staff. This comprises: computer hardware, applications, and network infrastructure including both wired and wireless. Access to the Internet is provided through HEAnet, which is the national Internet Service Provider (ISP) for Education and Research.

Over time, much of the business of the Institute, be it academic, research, or administrative, has come to depend on this ICT resource.

As a higher education institute, DIT provides access to a range of ICT services and infrastructure in an open environment, conducive to encouraging its use by all staff and students. To sustain this environment, however, a set of regulations and guidelines are set out below to which all staff and students must adhere. These regulations/guidelines are essential to:

  • Enable and protect the academic and administrative work of the Institute
  • Protect the copyright and intellectual property rights of those who supply software to the institute
  • Ensure the proper usage of the local network and Internet
  • Ensure legal compliance with the applicable Acts and Statutory Instruments.
