DIT Staff Welcome to the New Academic Year 2017

25-Aug-2017

‌From Monday 4 September to Friday 8 September 2017, DIT Aungier Street will play host to DIT's first week of welcome to the new academic year, for all staff.

Colleagues from DIT Library Services, the Careers Service, the Learning, Teaching and Technology Centre, Information Services, Staff Development, Campus Life, the Academic Writing Centre, the Maths Learning Support Centre and Student Services will all be on hand in the Aungier Street Courtyard area each day to let you know what's available to you and your students this year.

As well as raising awareness regarding the supports and services available to staff we also want the Welcome Week to convey a clear message around the benefits of maintaining a good mental health and a positive attitude to both life and work for all. We have Bobby Kerr, as a DIT alumni, coming in to speak on Thursday, September 7th at 1pm. This will be accompanied by a ‘healthy lunch’ beforehand.

Book your place to hear Bobby Kerr speak

Other events during the week will include drop-in sessions running in Room 2-069 over lunch each day looking at topics such as tips for managing email usage,  GSuite,  Social Media and how to conduct research in a digital age.

This year's Welcome week will take place in DIT Aungier St, but is open to staff and students from all campuses.

Digital Campus - our Collaborative Projects

17 May 2017

In forming the new Digital Campus & Learning Transformation Directorate, there is a need to bring together the skills and experience of colleagues within the three functions which make up the Directorate. Arising from one of a number of all staff ‘Town Hall’ meetings, the idea of creating a number of collaborative projects involving colleagues from all three functions was identified.

4 collaborative projects were identified as follows

1.    Develop a video introducing and explaining the Directorate

2.    Development of the Directorate website

3.    Survey of non-Webcourses eLearning activities across DIT

4.    Social Media Utilisation – a pilot of using social media tools to develop student-friendly communications

Each of these projects is now underway and it is anticipated that they will be completed in June 2017.
