GDPR Training

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will come into force on the 25th May 2018, replacing the existing data protection framework under the EU Data Protection Directive.  In preparation and to ensure that all staff are aware of their obligations under the regulations the following on-line training must be undertaken.

GDPR training is mandatory under the DIT Data Protection Policy.  The Institute is committed to the provision of Data Protection Training on a mandatory basis to ensure all individuals are aware of their respective responsibilities and obligations.

Under the DIT Data Protection Policy all staff are expected to:

  • Read and acquaint themselves with, and abide by, the rules of Data Protection set out in this Policy
  • Understand what is meant by 'personal data' and 'sensitive personal data' and know how to handle such data
  • Not jeopardise individuals' rights or risk a contravention of the Act
  • Contact their Head of School/Function or Information Governance Officer if in any doubt
