Alicja – 2nd year common engineering

Alicja Roslaniec is an access student leader and lives with her Mum and sister in a rented apartment in Swords. She is originally from Poland and came to Ireland when she was 7.  She hopes to get her Irish Citizenship this year.

Alicja was lucky to study engineering for her leaving cert and so she knew it was an area she was interested in. She came to DIT through the Access programme and is now in 2nd year engineering. She recently elected to take an extra welding course over 10 weeks to help further develop her skills.

For Alicja the Access Programme helped her to make friends and feel supported before she started her first day in Bolton Street. Today, she is really involved in helping others at DIT and beyond she is chair of the sign language society, she has represented DIT in intervarsity cycling, she tutors a neighbour in leaving cert maths and helps her mum with their household expenses.

And she cycles 14Km to and from Bolton Street every day.

Please make a donation to the Access Fund today to help students like Alicja make ends meet.
