The Greenway Hub at DIT Grangegorman
Placing Research and Innovation into the heart of Grangegorman
Completion date 2015

In line with DIT’s strategic plan, and towards the creation of a Technological University for Dublin, DIT is significantly increasing our capacity in research and innovation over the coming years. In a significant move towards increasing the visibility of research at DIT, The Greenway Hub, the first new building on campus at Grangegorman, will lead in the way in driving a culture of research and innovation at DIT.
The Greenway Hub will be home to the researchers of the Environment, Sustainability and Health Institute (ESHI) focusing on key issues in environmental health and how we interact with our environment. The state-of-the-art facilities will include labs, research desks and engagement space for 90 PhD students and 40 staff researchers bringing together researchers the College of Arts & Tourism, College of Engineering & Built Environment and College of Science and Health. At the Greenway Hub our researchers will focus on the impact the environment has on our health with the ultimate mission of improving the lives of vulnerable populations.
But The Greenway Hub will be more than just a research institute; it will also be home to the award winning DIT Hothouse incubation facility and commercialisation team. Since its inception, DIT Hothouse has helped create nearly 200 sustainable businesses that have attracted €115 million in equity investment and created approximately 1,300 quality jobs.
The Greenway Hub will be the lifeblood of innovation on the new campus at Grangegorman. As the campus develops around the Greenway Hub it will ensure that innovation and creativity flows into every lecture hall, lab and student meeting place. But we also have an aim and a responsibility to be the engine for regeneration in Dublin 7, stimulating economic development and job creation in the inner city.
