We’ve all heard the stories about the person who left ‘millions’ to the local dog’s home or some such like. The truth is that for many decades bequeathing money in your will, for a favourite cause, has been a popular way of leaving a legacy behind. A lot of people just don’t know how to go about this and that is where MyLegacy.ie can help.

MyLegacy.ie is a successful joint initiative of over 60 Irish charities which aims to raise public awareness of the importance of making a will. The campaign also promotes the opportunity to include charitable bequests in your will. DIT Foundation is one of these charities, and supports various awareness campaigns.

Next month, MyLegacy.ie is launching an exciting new initiative called Best Will in the World Week which will take place from Monday 17th to Friday 21st October 2011. During this week the general public will be encouraged to visit a local participating solicitor to have a will drawn up or changed and to consider leaving a legacy to their favourite cause.

Through the Best Will in the World Week, anybody can get professional, impartial advice on their will for just €50, and perhaps help a favourite charity at the same time. Leaving a legacy is a simple, wonderfully fulfilling experience and anyone can do it. It does not matter how big or small the gift is - all contributions will make a lasting difference.

For more information and to see a list of participating solicitors, please see www.mylegacy.ie
