DIT MATHS TUTION PROGRAM CELEBRATION

Students who assisted with the maths Tuition Program 2014 with Fr. Alan Hilliard,Prof. Gerry Farrell, Eoin Murphy and Dr. Michael Carr.
On Wednesday the 9th of April, the new Dean and Director of the College of Engineering and Built Environment, Professor Gerry Farrell presented certificates to nineteen students from Bolton St. who participated in Maths Tuition Program for local secondary school students. DIT Maths Tuition Program is proudly funded by the Michael O'Donnell Memorial Fund through DIT Foundation.
The Maths Tuition Program takes place every Wednesday. There are two programs in place:
- 1-2 pm in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Secondary School
- 4-5 pm in Bolton St. serving students from O’Connell’s Schools and the North Inner City area
The aim of the program is: primarily to provide maths tuition for local Leaving Certificate students; to familiarise local secondary school students with the third level sector and environment; give students at Bolton St an opportunity to assist the local community and to increase the profile of Bolton St. DIT within the local community.
Bolton St DIT is deeply indebted to those who work with us on these programs:
- Stanhope St: Mr. Gerry Cullen (Principal), Ms Aine Kinsella, Mr. David Coleman
- North Inner City.... Angela Cremins
Those within DIT that we owe a debt of gratitude to are:
Eoin Murphy, Michael Carr and Fr. Alan Hilliard. Everyone is deeply indebted to the late Michael O’Donnell and his vision for education at DIT. We also owe a debt of thanks to The DIT Access and Civic Engagement Office headed up by Julie Bernard.
Particular thanks are owed to the new ‘Mathlethes Society’ who have contributed great time and energy to the maths tuition project. During the year they have taken time to organise various projects to show students both inside Bolton St and in local schools that maths can be fun.
