Ireland Funds support Sports Programme for Young People

Graduation group in DIT Kevin Street
DIT Sports and 20 young people from the local schools and youth clubs celebrated a graduation ceremony on May 14th from the ‘Developing Young People through Sport’ programme. DIT Sports would like to thank Dublin City Council and Warrenmount School for their support in delivering this innovative programme which was kindly supported by a grant from the Ireland Funds.
The grant enabled the team, working collaboratively with local stakeholders, to roll out the ‘Developing Young People through Sport and Physical Activity’ programme, a collaborative project between DIT and Dublin City Council, to 20 young people between 15-18 years we otherwise would not have been able to reach. Young people in the local area do not currently have easy access to facilities that provide participation opportunities in physical activity and the grant has supported the delivery of a number of participation opportunities across 4 different aquatic, health and fitness based activities; snorkelling, gym fitness, dance, kayak, nutrition and First Aid training at our fitness facility, DIT Kevin Street College.
Graduates of the programme will now be supported to sustain participation & continue a life-long involvement within their chosen activity and be given the opportunity to integrate within the DIT Sports Clubs community sports programme at reduced community rates or into a local sports organisation.

DIT Sport and DIT Foundation would like to thank the Ireland Funds for the €2,000 grant which allowed for the delivery of this project.
