Eight exciting projects that will make a real difference to students across DIT have been selected for support from the DIT Foundation Grant Round in 2011.

In all 26 applications for grants were received, a fantastic response considering this was the first year that the Fund was open.Here is a list of the winning projects:

Primary School Vision Screening |
This project involves DIT Optometry students using their skills and gaining experience through providing free eye tests in local national schools. |

Community Design Challenge: Learning together through a common mission that’s fun |
A novel initiative that will see students working together with people with disabilities to design products to aid the disabled. |

DIT Student Action Volunteering Website |
A new, easy to access portal where students can discover and engage in volunteering opportunities. |

Formula Student: Student Participation in International Multi-College/University Engineering Competition: ‘Formula DIT to Silverstone’ |
An exciting method of learning for engineering students as they design and build a motorcar for Europe’s biggest student motorsport event. |

DIT Developing Women Through Sport and Physical Activity |
An eight module course for students and community leaders to promote and encourage the involvement of women in sport. |

Books4Health |
Promoting student health, this involves providing a collection of health related books for students in DIT Libraries. |

Bolton Trust Student Enterprise Competition |
Supporting the promotion of this competition which fosters a spirit of entrepreneurship among DIT students. |
|
Psycho-educational support for part-time students |
Assisting part-time students who may have recently returned to education through the provision of tailored workshops. |
