2016 DIT Foundation Grants

In March 2016 DIT Foundation was delighted to announce the awarding of grants to worthy projects at DIT promoting innovation and creativity.

The judging panel awarded grants to:

FormulaDIT

The Class One Formula Student Event challenges third-level students to design, build and test a single-seat racing car in a competitive environment. DIT is the only Irish college taking part in this event. The Formula Student competition is Europe’s biggest student motorsport event, attended in 2015 by more than 2,500 students from a “who’s who” of over 120 leading Universities from 30 countries

Caruana Gramaphone Collection

This project is a joint venture between the DIT Library Service and DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama. The project aims to conserve, re-house, catalogue, digitise and make accessible the historical shella recordings of the Caruana Gramophone Collection.

Architecture Transition Year Programme for secondary school students

Transition Year programme will allow students interested in Architecture to experience a week in college hearing sample lectures, participating in design projects understanding issues related to the built environment and visiting buildings in Dublin.

DIT Pasta Bridge

A design and build project run by the civil and structural engineers and local schools, using pasta!

Robo Bridge

Robo-Bridge “powers participation at DIT” by providing resources necessary for lecturers and highlyknowledgeable students from DIT to bring robotics education out into the community—in order to increase second-level students’ interest, understanding, and enthusiasm for pursuing qualifications and careers in
Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM).

The 2016 DIT Foundation Grant Round has been made possible through the support of generous donors to DIT.
