Renewable World seeks to make a unique and meaningful contribution to the sustainable development of the over 1.3bn people without access to reliable electricity, through the provision of renewable energy, infrastructure, knowledge and skills. For the past three years a DIT graduate has had the opportunity through the Travel Scholarship to learn from and contribute to the work of Renewable World.

L to R: Professor Brian Norton (President, DIT), Brian Hurley (Director, Renwable World), Daire Reilly (2014 Travel Scholar), Louis Fitzgerald (Renewable World)

This unique opportunity is a once in a life time experience for the lucky scholar as well as an amazing opportunity for the DIT Dublin Energy Lab and others to use the information and experience of the scholar to inform teaching and research at DIT.

The 2014 Scholar, Daire Reilly is a PhD student focusing on ‘A consumer oriented tool for dwelling energy retrofit measure assessment’.

Daire is supervised by the Dublin Energy at DIT and his co-funder ESB Electric Ireland. Daire will travel to Nepal to take up his three month placement in the coming months.
