Legacies
Leaving a legacy is a simple, wonderfully fulfilling experience which anyone can do. In fact, these days, more and more people are leaving gifts in their wills. Leaving a legacy to DIT can make an important contribution to developing bright young minds. You can support...
- specific academic area with funding for scholarships and teaching
- develop research programmes in a DIT research institute or centre
- undergraduate and graduate students with bursaries and grants
- DIT’s new campus at Grangegorman in north inner city Dublin
- sporting activities, across a wide variety of sports
Or you can support them all by leaving a gift in your will for the area of greatest need.
Tax Relief on Donations
As DIT Foundation is a registered Irish charity (CHY 14226), all gifts of €250 or more to the Foundation are tax efficient.
What are the tax reliefs?
As a PAYE taxpayer
If you are a PAYE-only taxpayer, the tax relief is given directly to
the DIT Foundation. For example: if an individual on the standard rate
of tax at 20% donates €250, the value to DIT Foundation is €312.50. DIT
Foundation can claim repayment of €62.50 from the Revenue after the tax
year end.
In order for DIT Foundation to claim the
tax relief, all PAYE-only donations above €250 require a CHY2 form to
be completed and returned to DIT Foundation. You will receive a CHY2
form from DIT Foundation automatically.
Self-Assessed Individual
If you are a Self-Assessed taxpayer or if you pay a portion of your tax
under the self-assessment system, you claim the tax relief on a
donation to DIT Foundation as a deduction on your tax return. DIT
Foundation is an eligible charity and will issue a receipt.
Company Donation
A company can claim a deduction for a donation to DIT Foundation as if it were a trading expense. DIT Foundation is an eligible charity and will issue a receipt.
