Scopus is an online subscription-based bibliographic database containing abstracts and citations for academic publications. Maintained by Elsevier, Scopus covers scientific journals, books and conference proceedings.  Its focus is largely concentrated on peer-reviewed publications  in the fields of life, physical, medical and social sciences. 

Scopus provides tools which enable a user to track, analyse and visualise research.  Scopus offers author and affiliation profiles, along with information on an author's citation count, h-index, etc.  Publication trends may be seen and analysed.

Users are welcome to register on the Scopus website.  Alerts may then be set up by, allowing for the tracking of ongoing developments in an author's profile.
