Dr. Jim Hanly

Dr Jim Hanly is a Research Fellow and lecturer in Finance in the College of Business. His research interests focus on energy economics, risk management and hedging, asset pricing and volatility modelling in financial and commodity markets. He has spent time in the University of Melbourne, Australia and the University of Otago, New Zealand as a visiting scholar and was the Irish Accounting and Finance Association Scholar in 2006. He has acted as a reviewer for a number of journals including Energy Economics and the Financial Review and has published his work in journals including the Journal of Futures Markets, The European Journal of Finance and Energy Economics. He also acts as a reviewer of financial texts for a number of publishers. He is currently working on projects in electricity risk management and hedging energy commodities.
His teaching interests include corporate finance, derivatives and risk management on the MSc in Finance and MBA programmes in the College of Business. Dr Hanly holds a PhD and an MBS in Finance from University College Dublin.
