Biography

Ronan McGuirk is a PhD researcher in the Dublin Energy Lab based in the Kevin Street building at the Dublin Institute of Technology. Ronan graduated with a first class Honours Degree in Electrical services and Energy Management from Dublin Institute of Technology in 2012 achieving the highest mark in his graduating class. The research, under the supervision of Professor Jonathan Blackledge, is in the area of Ocean Energy, mainly the simulation of sea surface waves for the evaluation of wave energy conversion technologies. It is hoped that the research will aid in the design of wave energy conversion technologies and provide accurate statistical estimates of the expected power output for a given design and wave farm locality. Ronan currently works as a Technical Manager for a Dublin based electrical contracting firm specialising in the complete fit-out and up-keep of all electrical services within OPW managed facilities.
