Last year CIBSE invited Professor Owen Lewis (SEAI Chief Exec) and Dr Mike Murphy to launch the journal in Engineers Ireland (photos enclosed) and this was a very successful event. CIBSE SDAR* Awards 2013
The intention with this award is to encourage innovation and evidence based research and evaluation in engineering and the built environment. It is different to other Best Project competitions in that it is intended to encourage research, disseminate knowledge gained from this research and raise the level and quality of innovation in projects. Entries must critically evaluate what they are doing and examine mistakes as well as successes in a transparent way analysing data gathered on innovative projects. In this way the profession builds capacity to innovate successfully. The professional industry moves from ideologically driven projects offering poor value to evidence based innovations that add to value for the client and enhance the stature of the profession.
Abstracts of interesting or innovative projects in which there is data, analysis and evidence of success or failure are likely to be short listed. The intention is not to select successful projects but successful research that informs our engineering peers.
Entries for 2012/13 are now open and finalists will be shortlisted by peer review.
The final will take place in DIT in Spring 2013.
